15 Best Seafood Restaurants in Cyprus 2026

TL;DR

Cyprus is an island — and onto your plate goes what’s just been pulled from the sea. 15 fish restaurants where you truly taste the Mediterranean Sea. From Larnaka to Paphos.

15 Best Fish Restaurants in Cyprus 2026

When you're on the island, you eat fish. It's simple logic — and it works perfectly on Cyprus. The Mediterranean Sea is just outside your window, fishing boats returning at dawn to ports in Paphos, Larnaca and Zygi, restaurateurs waiting on the shore. Nothing here is frozen for longer than one day.

The following list is not a TripAdvisor ranking — it's a selection based on kitchen authenticity, product freshness and value for money.

How to Eat Fish in Cyprus — The Basics

Before we get to specific addresses, a few rules:

How to order: Instead of pointing to a position on the menu, approach the ice display and indicate a specific fish. The waiter will tell you the weight (you pay per kg) and recommend a preparation. Grilled (sxara) is classic — don't complicate it.

What to order:

  • Barbounia (red mullet) — the sweetest fish in the Mediterranean, grilled with lemon
  • Xifias (swordfish) — grilled steaks, meaty and filling
  • Lavraki (European seabass) — delicate, great with olive oil and herbs
  • Fagri (gilt-head bream) — a classic, a safe choice everywhere
  • Oktopus (octopus) — sundried, grilled, served with ouzo

Prices: 18–35 EUR per kg of fresh fish, plus meze/bread ~5 EUR. A couple with a bottle of local wine for a delicious fish dinner: 70–100 EUR.

Restaurants in Limassol

1. Old Harbour Fisherman's Taverna (Old Port Limassol)

Pallet furniture, anchors on the walls and the smell of grilled octopus wafting from Old Port Port Limassol. No decorations — there's fish pulled out at 6:00 AM instead.

Go on Thursday or Friday — that's when the boats return from a 2-day fishing trip and the fish is absolutely fresh.

House specialty: whole barbounia, grilled with capers

2. Ladas Fish & Seafood (Old Port Limassol)

A family business for three generations. The father delivers the fish, the son cooks, the daughter serves the guests. The menu is almost without a card — they write what is fresh on the board every day.

Prices are slightly higher than the neighboring competition, but justified by the quality. Book 2 days in advance for a weekend visit.

3. Gusto Mare (Limassol Marina)

At Limassol Marina — modern interior, view of yachts, Mediterranean-fusion cuisine. It's not a traditional fish tavern, but the product is excellent: Atlantic tuna tataki and red mullet carpaccio are dishes to remember for a long time.

Tip: outdoor table by the water, phone reservation essential in July–August

Restaurants in Paphos

4. Thalassa — Port Paphos

Right by the lighthouse in Port Paphos, where fishing boats moor. A terrace overlooking the water, a sunset of a different color every evening. The fish comes from local catches — the owner has an agreement with two fishermen.

Don't order: salad (banal). Order: fish meze with seasonal catches.

5. The Rock Restaurant (Coral Bay)

On the rocks at Coral Bay with a view of the bay. In summer, a table on the terrace with the sea breeze is one of the best dining experiences in Cyprus. Fresh seafood: calamari, langoustines, mussels.

Price: mid-range (60–80 EUR for two with wine)

6. Pelican Restaurant (Paphos Old Harbour)

One of the oldest fish addresses in Paphos. A pelican on the logo since 1976, the same family from the beginning. They specialize in fish baked in sea salt — a method that preserves natural juices and eliminates the need for sauces.

Restaurants in Larnaca

7. Militzis Traditional (Larnaka)

Cypriot cuisine in its purest form — fish meze is a category of its own here. The owner personally goes for fish at the market in Zygi (a small fishing village 20 km west), so the quality is guaranteed.

Close to Foinikoudes Promenade, perfect ending to an afternoon stroll.

8. Captain's Table (Larnaca Marina)

At the marina, view of small fishing boats and modern yachts. Specialty: fish steamed with an Asian touch — a hybrid of Cypriot tradition and new influences. Controversial for purists, but really tasty.

9. Zygi Fish Restaurants — the whole town

This is not one restaurant, but a fishing village. Zygi is located 20 km west of Larnaca and is literally built around the fishing port. A row of 8–10 taverns stretches along the quay. There's no bad choice here — they all serve fish pulled out at dawn.

Tip: go for lunch on a weekday (Wednesday–Thursday) — prices are 20% lower than on weekends, no crowds of tourists.

Restaurants in Protaras and Ayia Napa

10. Captain Costas (Protaras Beach Road)

A local institution on Fig Tree Bay. Simple, no frills — grilled fish, olive oil fries, Cypriot salad. Fair prices (40–50 EUR per couple with wine).

11. Sea Side (Ayia Napa Marina)

Modern marina and modern restaurant. Prices are higher than average, but fish tapas and local fish tatars are at a level that justifies the bill.

12. Kapparis Fish Taverna (Kapparis, between Protaras and Ayia Napa)

A hidden gem — a small tavern on the road, without a sea view (there isn't one), but with a fisherman as the owner. If you ask him what he recommends, he'll tell you what he has fresh. And that's the magic.

Restaurants off the Beaten Path

13. Pissouri Fishing Village Taverna (Pissouri)

30 km west of Limassol, a fishing village Pissouri Bay. In summer, the tavern by the port serves fish so fresh that some say it tasted better than in Limassol. Fewer tourists, lower prices, more authentic atmosphere.

14. Latchi Harbour Restaurants (Polis)

Latchi near Polis is a paradise for seafood lovers. A few taverns by a small fishing port — a village that literally lives from the sea. Octopus with a terrace by the water is everyday life here.

Accommodation nearby: Villa Poseidon Latchi or Villa Zeus Akamas — both a few minutes from the port.

15. Coral Bay Fish Taverna (Coral Bay)

Intimate, local, seasonal. This tavern has no website or TripAdvisor profile. There is a bench by the sea, a few tables and fish for which neighbors from Paphos will come.

Practical Information

  • Opening hours: most fish taverns 12:00–15:00 (lunch) and 18:30–23:00 (dinner)
  • Monday: many are closed — fishermen don't go out on Sunday
  • Reservations: during peak season (July–August) book one day in advance
  • Tip: 10% is standard, 15% for exceptional service
