Mall of Cyprus sits in the Latsia suburb of Nicosia, around 8 km south of the city centre. It is the largest mall in Cyprus by total floor area (roughly 80,000 m² of retail and entertainment), with more than 130 stores, a multiplex cinema including the only IMAX screen on the island, an extensive food court, a children's play area, and a substantial Carrefour-anchored supermarket. It opened in 2007 and has been the principal shopping destination for Nicosia residents since.
The retail mix is the standard international combination — fashion (Zara, H&M, Mango, Bershka, Pull & Bear, the standard high-street brands), home goods (IKEA Bistrot — a smaller IKEA presence, plus department stores), electronics (Public, MediaMarkt-style chain), books (Public also has a books section), and a wide range of smaller specialty stores. Local Cypriot brands are a smaller portion than the internationals. Several restaurants and a substantial food court cover everything from international chains to local options including a Cypriot-style halloumi grill.
The IMAX cinema is the entertainment headline — the only IMAX screen in Cyprus, showing major Hollywood releases in the format. The smaller multiplex screens cover the standard cinema rotation. Family-entertainment options include a children's soft-play zone, an arcade, and seasonal special events.
Insider tips. Saturday afternoon is busiest; weekday mornings and evenings are calmer. The food court is genuinely useful for travelling families. The IMAX is worth checking — major releases are shown in English with Greek subtitles. Free parking is generous; the mall is signposted from the highway. The mall is most useful as the all-weather option in extremes of weather.
Combinations. The mall is itself a half-day if combined with a cinema visit. Pair with Nicosia old town and the Cyprus Museum (15 minutes north into the centre), with the Cyprus Museum-and-Folk-Art-Museum cultural day, or with the village of Pera Chorio (on the way back to Nicosia, with its 12th-century Byzantine church). For most visitors, however, the Mall of Cyprus is best understood as a practical errand-and-cinema destination rather than a tourist must.
Bring. Wallet/card, comfortable shoes, layered clothing (the mall is heavily air-conditioned). When. Year-round. Open daily roughly 09:00-21:00 (longer in summer). Useful as a rainy-day option, an air-conditioned summer-afternoon escape, or an evening cinema destination for visitors staying in Nicosia.
