The Cape Greco Lighthouse Viewpoint sits at the south-eastern tip of Cyprus, on the rocky headland of Cape Greco proper within the National Forest Park. The small white-painted modern lighthouse on the cape gives the spot its name and serves as a navigation aid for the busy shipping lane between Cyprus and the Levantine coast. The viewpoint itself is a clifftop terrace with a low retaining wall and several rough stone benches — basic infrastructure, spectacular setting.
The panorama is what brings visitors. From the cape you see the Mediterranean opening to the south and east — on a clear day with the right haze conditions, the Lebanese and Syrian coasts can sometimes be glimpsed 100-150 km away (very rare, but it does happen). Westward, the cliffs of Cape Greco's sea-caves area run out toward Konnos Bay and Ayia Napa. The small white-domed chapel of Agioi Anargyroi sits 200 metres north on a slightly higher rise, with a stair down to a tiny rock-cut chapel at sea level.
The viewpoint is one of Cyprus' most-photographed spots, with the lighthouse, the cliffs, and the open sea making for consistent sunrise and sunset photography. The cliff-edge walking trail connects the lighthouse with the rest of the Cape Greco park — Konnos Bay to the west, the sea-caves area further west, and the Glyki Nero cove east.
Insider tips. Sunrise is the moment for the photogenic east-facing viewpoint — the Cape's south-east position means you get the morning sun rising directly out of the sea. Allow 20-30 minutes for the visit itself, longer if you walk the cliff trail. Parking is limited at the cape; arrive early in summer or walk in from Konnos. Sturdy shoes for the cliff edges. The viewpoint is unfenced.
Combinations. Pair with the Agioi Anargyroi chapel (5 minutes' walk), the sea-caves area (cliff path or 5 minutes by car), Konnos Bay swim (15 minutes' walk on the cliff trail), and Glyki Nero Beach. The Cape Greco park as a whole is a half-day natural circuit.
Bring. Sturdy shoes, sunscreen, hat, water, camera, layered clothing for sunrise (it can be cool). When. Year-round; sunrise (year-round) is the photographic peak; sunset gives lit cliffs. Spring and autumn for the most pleasant walking. Avoid summer midday in the open. The Cape Greco Lighthouse Viewpoint is the south-eastern tip of Cyprus and one of the most rewarding 30-minute stops on the island.
