Cyprus in 3 days — a long weekend from Poland. What will you realistically be able to see

TL;DR

Cypr w 3 dni: realny plan dla weekendu długiego z Polski. Dwa warianty (baza Larnaka lub Pafos), koszty 1500-2500 zł/os, co odpuścić.

Cyprus in 3 Days — A Long Weekend from Poland. What You Can Realistically See

A long weekend in Cyprus — 4–5 days of travel, with 3 full days on the ground — is an increasingly popular format, especially in May (May Day), November, and during holidays. The flight takes 4 hours. The question is: what can you realistically see in 3 days? And what should you skip to avoid spending the weekend in a car instead of on the beach or at historical sites?

Realistic Expectations

Cyprus is small physically, but rich in attractions. 3 days is enough to:

  • See one or two main regions in focus
  • Take several day trips from a base
  • Experience the island's atmosphere, eat authentically, and swim

3 days is NOT enough to see "the whole island." Those who try to do so spend 70% of their time in a car and return tired instead of refreshed.

Choosing a Base — A Key Decision

With 3 days, your base MUST be one location. Changing hotels every night is a loss of 2–3 hours on packing, departure, arrival, and check-in.

Option A: Larnaca — for lovers of historical architecture, close to the airport, good public transport Option B: Paphos — for lovers of ancient ruins + sunset at the Aphrodite’s Rock Option C: Limassol — for couples and people who appreciate good restaurants, a marina, and a lifestyle Option D: Ayia Napa/Protaras — for beach and water sports enthusiasts (not sightseeing)

Plan A: Base in Larnaca (3 nights)

Day 1 (Friday evening or Saturday morning)

Arrival: Flight from Warsaw in the morning (approx. 6:00–7:00 departure, 10–11 arrival) or evening (16:00–20:00). Car rental at LCA (recommended for excursions).

If arriving in the morning:

  • Check-in, freshen up
  • Walk around Larnaca: St. Lazarus Church, Old Town, Finikoudes promenade
  • Mckenzie Beach in the afternoon (2 km from the center)
  • Dinner at the fishing harbor: 20–30 EUR/person

Day 2 (Saturday)

Excursion to Paphos (80 km, 1h 10 min by car):

  • Paphos Mosaics (3h, 8.50 EUR)
  • Paphos Castle at the harbor (2.50 EUR)
  • Lunch at a tavern at the old harbor: 18 EUR/person
  • Aphrodite’s Rock on the way back — sunset
  • Return to Larnaca around 9:00 PM

Day 3 (Sunday)

Local excursion:

  • Hala Sultan Tekke and Salt Lake (8 km from Larnaca center)
  • Kition (Kitium) — ancient Phoenician port city under Larnaca
  • Pernera or Mckenzie Beach in the afternoon
  • Market in Larnaca center (if Sunday before 1:00 PM — some vendors are open)
  • Meze dinner at a local tavern: 16 EUR/person

Day 4 (Return)

  • Breakfast and last-minute shopping
  • Car return at LCA
  • Return flight

Plan B: Base in Paphos (3 nights)

Day 1 (Arrival)

  • Flight to PFO (Paphos Airport), 10-minute taxi ride to the center
  • Paphos Mosaics if arriving in the morning (8.50 EUR)
  • Old harbor and castle in the afternoon
  • Fish dinner at the harbor

Day 2 — Akamas Peninsula

  • Jeep Safari Akamas excursion: 45 EUR/person (book in advance)
  • OR: by own car to Latchi + kayak to Blue Lagoon (35 EUR/person)
  • Baths of Aphrodite
  • Return: dinner in Latchi at the harbor

Day 3 — Troodos or Beach

Troodos option (for active people):

  • Kykkos Monastery — 60 km, 1h
  • Omodos village — wine, tavern
  • Return to Paphos, evening at the beach

Beach option (for those who want to relax):

  • Coral Bay — 15 minutes from Paphos center
  • Snorkeling
  • Shopping at a local market
